2010 HONDA S2000

2010 Honda S2000 renderingÂ

Honda S2000 has remained largely unchanged since the time it was launched, way back in April 1999. Offcourse it has been freshened up with new tail lights, LED’s and the stuff, the basic shape has remained the same. The car was launched with a 2000cc DOHC VTEC screamer that belted out 240 bhp’s at an amazing 8300 rpm!!! The engine was redlined at 9000 rpm the most for any car! The high revving engine held the title for highest specific power per unit volume of any mass produced naturally aspirated engine. The compact and lightweight engine was mounted entirely behind the front axle for the perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

In 2004 a larger version of the earlier 2000cc engine was introduced in the US market, with the new engine displacing 2200cc’s. The power produced was the same but torque incresed by 6% to 220 nm @ 6200 rpm compared to 207 nm @ 7500 rpm for the original.

According to a few Japanese magazines, the S2000 replacement is coming in 2010 with one of them publishing a rendering of the expected successor. Rumours also say, that the next generation S2000 will come with a choice of a 4 cylinder 2.4 litre engine generating 250 bhp and a larger 3.5 litre V6 putting around 350 bhp. Will it be a worthy successor…. only time will tell.

2010 Honda Civic - new rendering

2010 honda civic - new rendering

Honda
will unveil the next generation (ninth) Civic in 2010. Here is an exclusive rendering of what reports suggest the future car may looks like. Based on the OSM Concept unveiled by Honda at the British Motor Show, the future little Honda will likely look more aggressive in its European form and hopefully this look will s----over into North America.

Although Honda has not announced plans to bring the hatchback version of the Civic back to the U.S., we chose this rendering to give us all something to drool over. For Euro Civic fans, sources indicate that the future Civic hatchback will carry over the current single strip light cluster at the rear, but the split rear screen has been dropped to improve visibility.

Honda currently makes two different versions of the Civic. Just like the Accord, the car offered in Europe is a different design and rides on a different platform. The last two generations of the Civic in the U.S. have taken the car away from the youth and turned it into mom and pop’s second car. Gone are the days of the performance-oriented double-wishbone front suspension (2001), instead we get more interior room. It may be reliable, but it lost most of its passion.

The true hope is that with the 2010 update, we will get back the hatchback or at least something similar to the sporty design from our rendering of Honda’s own OSM Concept. Honda make it dependable, but make sure it has a pulse.

2010 Honda “Acura” NSX V10

2010 honda acura nsx car
American Honda President and CEO Tetsuo Iwamura announced the release of the Acura NSX will be in 2010 “We are developing it without any delay, so most probably we will have it in the period we already promised”. It had previously been promised earlier and many expected the new NSX to debut alongside the Nissan GTR at the 2007 Tokyo Show but it was not to be.

I need to decide which sports car i should buy soon? May be in 2020 when i have the budget, or may be at that year i will by a flying car!

2010 Honda FCX

2006 Honda FCX Concept Rear Side View

2006 Honda FCX Concept Open Door Side ViewThe FCX concept is Honda's latest take on fuel cells. Although its ultra-cab-forward body looks dramatically long, low, and wide, at 186 inches (15.5 feet) in overall length, the FCX is actually shorter than the Acura RL. It features a compact, Honda-developed fuel-cell stack in the middle of the car with two hydrogen tanks in the rear. The stack is actually much smaller than is now technologically feasible, but Honda says that it shows "our dream."
The novel four-wheel-drive system has one front 80-kW electric motor with two in-wheel, 25-kw motors at the rear.

The deluxe cabin is outfitted with a mix of traditional Japanese materials--such as a wood floor--plus the latest gizmos. The dashboard rises up (toward the driver) as speed rises, supposedly to hold the driver's attention, which leads us to wonder if the steering wheel is right in front of your
nose once you reach triple digits.

2010 Honda Revises CR-Z Concept

2010 Honda Revises CR-Z Concept

Sporty hybrid coupe debuts alongside other EV and hybrid concepts

The latest version of Honda's sporty hybrid concept will be revealed at October's Tokyo Motor Show.

The CR-Z Concept 2009 is the most recent prototype of a compact, agile coupe using Honda's IMA technology. When the production version goes on sale in the UK next summer 2010, it will be the world's first sports hybrid car, and the first ever petrol-electric vehicle to employ a 6-speed manual transmission.

Honda's stand - the largest of the show - will also feature two more new concept cars that aim to broaden the appeal of cleaner vehicle technology.

The EV-N is a small, 4-seater battery electric vehicle, inspired by the N360, Honda's 360cc micro car launched in the 1960s. It features solar panels in the roof, which could be used to charge the on-board battery. The EV-N is purely a design study and there are no plans for production.

The show will also mark the debut of the Skydeck concept, an innovative 6-seater hybrid MPV. This is still a design study, but is a great example of how Honda's IMA technology can be placed in a range of different cars for different needs. To give the Skydeck the practicality of a conventional MPV, many of the hybrid system components - including the high power battery - are housed in the car's centre tunnel (rather than behind the rear seats or under the floor, as with previous production hybrids). This allows for greater cabin space, and the room for three rows of two seats. It also gives a lower centre of gravity.

Other models on display include the Swindon-built Civic Type R EURO. Sales of the 3-door British hot hatch start in Japan in November 2009.

Elsewhere, a special display zone named "HELLO!" (for Honda Electric mobility Loop) will feature a comprehensive display of electricity-based products, including products that supply electricity, vehicles that run on electricity and products with innovative electronic technologies. As well as the EV-N, this area will display FCX CLARITY, a fuel cell electric vehicle that runs on the electricity it produces from hydrogen; a new EV-Cub electric motorcycle; the new U3-X, a one wheel personal mobility device that uses balance control technology developed through the ASIMO robot project; and LOOP, a portable communication tool that allows people and mobility devices to communicate with each other.

This year, Honda's motorcycle display shares the same stand area as four-wheels, with features from larger-displacement sports bikes that offer new riding pleasure, to compact commuter models powered by electricity.

Making its world premiere, the all new and much anticipated VFR1200F V4-powered sports touring machine will be present, emphasising advanced technology and styling whilst offering an enjoyable riding experience. The stylish CB1100 also makes its world premiere, exploring the potential of the air-cooled, 4-cylinder engine while building upon the aesthetic appeal and riding taste of the generations of CBs. Advanced models that address environmental elements include the PCX, an idle stop function-equipped global scooter that delivers outstanding fuel economy and, the EVE-neo, which achieves clean and tough performance that only an electric-powered scooter can provide. The world's first Dual Clutch Transmission technology for larger-displacement and sportier bikes will also be showcased.

Organized by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, the event will take place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, from October 24 to November 4.

Key Features of the Step WGN

Exterior Design

The exterior design features a dynamic square form that expresses spaciousness and comfort. It imparts a feeling of interior roominess and comfort, along with ease of driving.
The front mask imparts a feeling of unity between the solidly sculpted front grill and large-sized headlights, for an intrepid expression that suggests girth and presence.
The waistline has been lowered and the center pillars and rear quarter pillars colored black to create a sense of continuity between the rear quarter windows and the rear window, giving expression to a bright, expansive cabin.
The roof appears to slope rearward relative to the forward-slanting lower body, creating a dynamic side silhouette while securing space for the second- and third-row seats and the tailgate opening.
Nine color variations are available, including two new colors.
Interior Design

The interior design offers enhanced driving ease and ease of use for various purposes. It delivers an easy-to-drive, comfortable, fun-to-use space.
The dashboard features a horizontal motif, spreading out to either side. Three-dimensional sculpting is used to position the controls conveniently in front of the driver, while the instrument panel is positioned higher up and farther away, placing items requiring visual monitoring nearer to the driver's line of sight with minimal re-focusing required.
The 3D, self-illuminated gauges are grouped by function and feature a three-dimensional, front-to-back layout. An 'ECO ring' changes color to indicate fuel consumption in real time, thus helping the driver improve fuel economy.
The urethane pads employed in the first- and second-row seat cushions have been made softer and upholstered with high-elasticity material for improved fit and seating comfort.
A wooden-style floor in the second and third rows, available as a factory option*9, gives the interior the feel of a living room.
*9 Available on the G L Package, L, and Spada S and Z FWD types

Powertrain

The 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine combines powerful low-end torque with comfortable driving performance. In addition to controlling valve timing, the variable intake system also uses DBW (Drive-By-Wire) to select the optimum throttle valve opening, achieving a significant decrease in pumping losses due to intake resistance. This results in a major improvement in fuel economy.
The torque converter-equipped CVT delivers outstanding fuel economy along with smooth driving free of shift shock, responding fluidly to the driver's needs across a wide range of driving conditions.
Enhanced engine and transmission performance and lightening throughout contribute to improved fuel economy, while ECON mode further contributes to improved real-world fuel economy.
Packaging

Built on a low-floor, low-center-of-gravity package, the new Step WGN's overall height has been increased by 45mm to achieve the roomiest cabin interior in its class*1, with a cabin height of 1,395mm*6. Head clearance has been significantly increased in all three rows, contributing a relaxed feel while driving and greater ease of movement within the cabin.
Overall length has been increased by 50mm*5 and the rear pillar oriented vertically, creating a longer cabin. The result is a best in class*1 3,095mm long cabin, with increased tandem distance between the first- and second-row seats.
Innovations to rear floor construction, including a broadly curving rear frame that extends from behind the rear wheels to the outer extremities of the body, open up enough space to allow the third-row seats to be stored flat under the floor, creating a spacious cargo area.
Window area has been expanded by extending the side windows vertically and the rear quarter windows to the rear, augmenting the visual sense of spaciousness.
A wider roof with optimized positioning of roof-side structural components creates enough space for a sky roof*7 that, at 1,400mm long by 840mm wide (internal dimensions), features a total glass area among the largest in the world*8.
Utility

Under-floor storage for third-row seats results in a flat, easy to use cargo area, allowing bicycles or other large objects to be loaded more easily.
The cargo area floor has been lowered and the height and width of the tailgate opening increased to create a squarer-shaped opening for outstanding convenience.
The standard second-row 6:4-split tumble seats feature a one-motion design that allows the seat back to be folded down and then the seat to be flipped up, simply by pulling on either the seat-side reclining lever or the strap located on the back of the seat. The seats can be set to a variety of configurations with a few simple operations. And, with the 6:4-split, tip-up and slide seats, available as a factory option, the center portion of the second-row seat can be folded away to enable smooth passage from the first- to the third-row seats*9.
A full complement of storage compartments, including a convenient, oversized tray on the dashboard that starts at the center and extends toward the passenger side, further enhances ease of use.
The new Step WGN is easier to get in and out of than ever, with a wider slide-door opening to complement the low-floor design that allows passengers to enter the second-row seating area with a single step.
Visibility has been improved thanks to a cross-sectional shape for the front pillar that makes it appear thinner to the driver and lowering the lower edge of the front door window by 25mm. Larger rear quarter windows and rear windows further enhance the all-around broad, panoramic view.
Body

Front-end rigidity has been improved through such measures as adding closed cross-section materials to connect the front bulkhead to the upper frame and employing a closed cross-sectional configuration for the shock absorber attachments.
Rigidity of the rear shock absorber attachments has been improved by surrounding the rear shock absorber housing with the rear frame.
Transmission of vibrations to the cabin area has been effectively controlled by reducing sources of noise and vibration and increasing overall body and chassis rigidity. Other measures, including acoustic pressure control in body panels used to eliminate cabin hum and expanded use of sound damping and insulating materials, achieve outstanding interior quietness.
Chassis

The front suspension features McPherson struts for their outstanding space efficiency, which contributes to the short-nose design.
The rear employs an H-shaped torsion beam suspension with a compact design that plays a major role in realizing the low-floor, low-center-of-gravity platform.
Despite its long wheelbase, the all-new Step WGN features a best in class*1 minimum turning radius of 5.3m. Combined with EPS (Electric Power Steering), this provides superb maneuverability that facilitates smooth navigation of tight parking areas and narrow roads.
Advanced Features

The Active Front lighting System (AFS) improves the driver's sense of security while cornering at night by pointing the headlight units in the direction of the turn to illuminate the path of vehicle travel. Availability depends on type*10.
The Hill-Start Assist function temporarily maintains brake pressure after the brake pedal is released when starting on a hill to ensure smoother starts and prevent the vehicle from rolling backward*11.
A side-view support mirror shows road surface conditions up to 7m in front of the left-front wheel, increasing the driver's sense of security when parallel parking or navigating narrow roads.
A multi-view camera system uses cameras to provide views of surrounding areas to support comfortable and safe driving. Availability depends on type*12.

Honda Skydeck MPV Hybrid Concept Revealed

Honda Skydeck Hybrid Concept

Honda Skydeck Hybrid Concept
Honda will unveil the Skydeck hybrid concept at this years Tokyo Motor Show at the end of the month. The vehicle could become a future rival to the Ford S-Max. This MPV has three rows of seating and could replace the FR-V in the European market.

The Skydeck is about the same size as the Ford S-Max. Its larger than the current FR-V and could provide Honda with an extremely efficient multi-passenger vehicle.

According to a source speaking with Autocar, "Honda wants to introduce a range of hybrid vehicles that appeal to different markets. There are currently no plans to put the Skydeck into production, but you can see the way we are going with this.”

The concept takes the Insight's battery system and relocates it from the rear floor area to the center console running the length of the cabin floor. The new layout could be utilized by Honda for the next generation Honda IMA full size hybrids.

The concept is designed to gauge interest and may not be a running vehicle. Honda has not released information about the engine powering the vehicle. The company intends to gauge reaction to a three row, large hybrid model.

The concept features second row seats the fold down under the first row and front doors that open upward like a Lamborghini with rear sliding doors. Some features would not make it to production, but again this is only a concept with no intentions for production at this time.

Look for additional info about the Honda Skydeck after its unveiling at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of the month.

Honda sporty CR-Z hybrid prototype

Crzpg-horizontal

Crzbackpg-horizontal

Honda, having already unveiled a version of the CR-Z hybrid sports concept, is about to give it another go. It will unleash a new concept version of the same car at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. From the looks of this one, they may have gotten it right.

The CR-Z is aimed at showing that social responsibility and fun can go together. That's news to us. We've always tilted more to the fun camp. The CR-Z would be the sporty alternative to the staid Insight sedan, which so far hasn't exactly lit up the sales chart in the U.S. At this point, Honda badly needs a hit hybrid if it wants to become known for them.

The real CR-Z, the one you can actually buy, is due to come to showrooms next year.

Honda's Return to Profit Is Made Uncertain

http://www.newfangled.com/stuff/contentmgr/files/1/de119135e27a1fa781344c403559c161/misc/honda_logo11.jpg
The yen's recent appreciation makes it less certain Honda Motor Co. can return to profitability in its fiscal second half, the Japanese car maker said Thursday.

"The second half is just an unknown zone," Takanobu Ito, Honda's president and chief executive, said in an interview.

Honda in July projected an operating loss of 10 billion yen, or about $100 million, for its fiscal first half, which ended in September, and an operating profit of 80 billion yen in the second half.

But the assumptions were based on an estimated dollar rate of 90 yen in the second half. The dollar dropped to an eight month low of 88.23 yen on Monday and has stayed below 90 yen for most of the week since then.

A stronger yen squeezes profit that the company earns overseas when repatriated into the yen. In the current fiscal year, which runs through March, Honda anticipates overseas vehicle sales will account for 80% of its global sales.

To fend off the impact of the stronger yen, the car maker can increase production overseas while cutting output in Japan to reduce its exports from home. But Mr. Ito said there aren't many options available for the company to mitigate the impact of the unfavorable exchange rate in the short term. The dollar's sluggish performance against the yen in the current fiscal year already is affecting sales of Honda's remodeled Insight hybrid, which the company produces in Japan, he said.
